We are very excited to have launched what will be the first of a range of elegant English Sparkling Wines from Albourne Estate – a Blanc de Blancs from our inaugural 2013 vintage. This “white of whites” is made from the highest quality ‘cuvee’ juice pressed from selected hand-picked Chardonnay grapes grown at Albourne Estate. As a wine of a single vineyard and single vintage it will reflect the nuances of place and weather patterns so creating a true ‘terroir’ wine.
As with all our sparkling wines, our Blanc de Blancs has been produced by the traditional method of bottle fermentation with extended on-lees ageing (3 years +) in order to craft a sparkling wine with elegance, complexity, finesse, character and a fine, delicate and persistent mousse.
In keeping with our popular still wine labels, each of our sparkling wines will bear an image of different fauna and flora found at the vineyard. Our Blanc de Blancs depicts the beautiful barn owl that resides on the Estate. The back labels carry the full details of each wines history – including picking date, bottling date, disgorgement date and the number of bottles produced – so enabling everyone to learn, enjoy and understand more about the complex and fascinating process of producing top quality bottle fermented sparkling wines, right here, in Sussex.
