We are delighted to be part of this exciting new initative, Sussex Modern in the Making: a collaboration between 9 leading Sussex wineries, 13 historic sites, museums and art galleries and 14 beautiful Sussex landscape areas as a celebration of the county’s contribution to modern culture through its art, landscape and wine.
We have published a free leaflet (which you can pick up from any of the sites) which gives details of all the places involved and encourages you to plan your own day out – taking in a vineyard, a local landscape feature and an art gallery, museum or historic house. Close to Albourne Estate is of course the wonderful South Downs, and Devil’s Dyke is a perfect walking spot with amazing views back towards the vineyard and out to sea. Alternatively, you could visit Cissbury Ring or Ditchling Common. Then perhaps round off your day at the Ditchling Museum of Art & Craft or the Brighton Museum & Art Gallery.
When planning your route, please remember that we are open for Tours and Tastings on Saturdays only between now and 21st September. Our full tour starts at 11am and must be booked in advance via our website as we limit group size to 22 for a more interactive and personal experience. However, you are welcome to drop in for a wine tasting between 2pm and 5pm each Saturday with no need to book.
We hope you enjoy planning your day or weekend in Sussex. Join the Dots and Pick Your Own Trail. For more inspiration visit: www.sussexmodern.org.uk
